These are all the first pattern of shovel cover with the fixed hooked on the back.
These were issued with the M1943 entrenching tool which was a copy of the German klappspaten, and itself far superior to the WWI M1910 shovels still in use at the start of the war. This first variant lacks the adjustable hook of later models and is the type in use on D-Day. In fact, all of these are dated 1943, despite most being OD7 in colour.
Our remaining inventory of these all show signs of use. Every single one has a repair of some type, many have several. All are original and serviceable.
